Food tasting chronicles: how we spice up our office life
At the start of this year, we launched a fun new project for our office life and communication: the Food Tasting Project. You might wonder why we did this, and we’re here to explain.
Good food brings people together. We all love eating, and it’s a great way to connect. Sitting around a table, trying new dishes, and chatting about flavors and toppings has become a special office tradition. It’s a great way to create special moments and strengthen our team bonds. Food truly is the best way to bring people together!
Take a look below at the food-tasting choices we made over the past six months and see how we enjoyed them:
Pizza Tasting: Of course, we started with a classic – pizza! Who doesn’t love it, right? We tried two types of it: 4 cheeses and pepperoni, sampling slices from 6 different restaurants. It was all good fun, and everyone had a great time. However, we quickly realized that even for pizza lovers, one slice of each was too much, and everyone ended up super full. So, for our second edition, we decided to opt for …
Sushi Tasting: For this event, we tried different kinds of Philadelphia rolls from several sushi places in Chisinau. Everyone tasted the rolls, guessed the ingredients, and ranked their favorites. It was a fun and surprising experience, as we found new favorite spots in town and enjoyed the unique flavors in each bite. The blind tasting added a sense of adventure & mystery, making it an enjoyable experience for all.
Dutch Goodies Tasting: BackstageIT has Dutch roots, so to spice things up and make our Food Tasting Project (FTP) more creative, we combined it with King’s Day. We brought in lots of different Dutch treats straight from the Netherlands, like Dutch sausages, various cheeses, crepes, herring, and many others. It turned into a real little festival for our stomachs and the entire office!
Georgian Khinkali: Khinkali is the most popular Georgian dish, known as their national favorite. These extra-large dumplings are filled with meat and spices, creating a rich soup inside. Since Moldovans love Georgian food, we chose a khinkali blind tasting. For some colleagues, it was their first time trying it, but everyone enjoyed the taste and the special way of eating them.
Chicken Wings: From mild to spicy, chicken wings became a big hit, especially with the European football championship around the corner. We tried wings from various places like restaurants and breweries, but nothing beats the taste of KFC.
Éclair Tasting: We’re developers, so we love sweets and enjoy a bit of friendly competition. That’s why we combined an eclair tasting with Bingo Day. The lucky winners got to take home their favorite eclairs or a voucher for a local pastry shop. Give this tasty combo a try for your team—they’ll definitely enjoy it!
Food tastings can take your event to the next level! They give colleagues the chance to meet, discuss and share opinions about certain dishes.
